Bio
Joan R. Alabart (Reus, 1962) graduated (1985) and got a Ph.D. (1990) in Chemisty at Universitat de Barcelona. He got a Master in Business Administration (MBA) at ESADE Business School (1993). He joined the Chemical Engineering Department of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) as an Associate Professor (1993). Very soon, he got involved in the deployment of the Project-Based Learning method and the creation and delivery of the Team Leadership in Practice subject as key enablers of the Educational Model of the Chemical Engineering School. In parallel, he cofounded the MBA program of the URV and he is still leading it (1995 -). He coordinated the University-Enterprise Training Partnership – PROJECTT, a European network of universities, enterprises, research centers and professional associations (1994-97). The European Foundation for Quality Management appointed him as an Assessor for the European Quality Award ((1998-01). He founded, and is still leading, a program in Leadership Development at the URV (2020 -). His field of interest is leadership in its three levels: self-leadership, team leadership (managers) and organizational leadership (executives). To finish, and following his life purpose “Awakening possibilities in other people”, he helps his students to discover their dominant talents and strengths so they can optimize their performance in their roles and lead their careers more effectively (Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, 2013). In the same vein, he is also delivering coaching services and in-company training to managers and teams in several companies.
